Bud Cianchette, Co-Founder of Cianbro, Dies

PITTSFIELD (NEWS CENTER) -- A brother who co-founded Cianbro, one of Maine's largest construction companies, has died. Ival "Bud" Cianchette was 83.
A prominent horseman and businessman, Cianchette died at his home in Falmouth Thursday night. He was suffering from cancer.
Cianchette was instrumental in upgrading the Bangor Raceway and getting slot machines in bangor. He was also active in politics, serving as a delegate to the Republican convention in 2004, alongside his son Peter.
Last month, at Cianbro's 60th anniversary celebration, Cianchette told the audience he had lived a charmed life. He said, "In my obituary, if anyone writes one, it should say, the luckiest man in the world just left us."
Peter Vigue, Cianbro's President, Chairman and CEO said, "His legacy of excellence and high quality will continue to be an example for our company as the Cianbro trademark continues to grace significant construction landmarks and milestones well into the future."
Bud Cianchette is survived by his wife of 57 years, Priscilla, a daughter, Susan, and sons Thomas, Earle, Mark and Peter.
Calling hours are Tuesday at Jones Rich & Hutchins funeral home. The funeral will be held Wednesday in Pittsfield at Pittsfield Baptist Church at 11 a.m.
