Cub Scout Saves Younger Brother's Life

TURNER (NEWS CENTER) -- Ten year old Alex Whitehouse learned the Heimlich Maneuver in Cub Scouts. Thank goodness he did.
Last week, Alex's four year old brother, Drake, was jumping on the bed and eating a tootsie roll when he began to choke on the candy. Alex came to the rescue.
He grabbed his brother around the stomach, pulled his head down and perfomed the life saving manuever. The tootsie roll popped out. Alex's mom, Michelle, says she is incredibly proud of her son.
Alex says he figured he might use the life saving skills he learned in Cub Scouts one day, but not this soon.
Alex has earned a lot of badges in Scouts. He has also been accepted as a youth ambassador in the People to People program.
On Thursday, November 12 from 5pm to 8pm, there's a spagetti dinner at Montello Elementary School in Turner to help him raise the seven thousand dollars needed for the trip.
